You will be surprised at how many QSOs you can have on a faraway remote repeater using your Icom or Kenwood D-STAR handheld and an openspot2. In other words, above and beyond reflectors you can connect to a D-STAR repeater with the RFShark openspot2, and I assume the openspot3 works the same way. I do not have one to confirm this, however.
