Meet VK5ZAI, J.A. (TONY) HUTCHISON
Once in awhile, you run across an exceptional video/story and you just have to share it. Today is no exception.
Meet J.A. (TONY) HUTCHISON (VK5ZAI).
First licensed in 1960 as VK5ZAI, Tony became interested in satellite communications in 1965 with OSCAR III.
From his QRZ page he states:
In the 90’s I became involved with the Mir Space Station handling school contacts and later family linkups for Andy Thomas during his 5-month flight on Mir in 1998. Later in 2000, I was invited to join the ARISS team (Amateur Radio on International Space Station) as a Telebridge Operator and School Mentor.
In 2001 I was invited by NASA to the launch of STS-102 from Cape Kennedy and to meet some of the astronauts. Photos of the trip and ARISS stations can be viewed on my web site.
I am currently the ARISS co-ordinator for Australia
